I always believed that every problem could be solved with a positive attitude. Since I was a child, I never gave up on anything. Back in 2016, I started to lose weight suddenly without changing anything in my daily life routine. My husband got concerned and took me to our family doctor. He spotted a mass on my pancreas and it was cancerous. I was desolated. It seemed unfair as I always maintained a good and healthy lifestyle. My husband encouraged me to fight back. I got my chemotherapy and radiation therapy from a radiation oncologist referred to by our family doctor. He began chemotherapy to shrink the tumour, so that it would be operable. The following year he started radiation therapy and he referred me to one of the best pancreatic specialist doctors.
The pancreas cancer surgeon told me about the entire treatment process and its side effects. He and all the medical staff were very kind to me. The same year I went under an operation where he removed my bile duct and the head of my pancreas. After the surgery, I went for my second chemotherapy treatment performed by the radiation oncologist, which lasted for two months. Throughout my treatment, I always found my family and my doctors supporting me.
It has been three years till then. I am cancer-free now, but cancer has changed my life a lot. I can't do everything I used to do before being diagnosed with cancer, but I always try to stay positive. I go for routine checkups every six months to my doctor. He is as nice to me as he was the first day. I cannot thank him and my family enough to pull me out of the most challenging time of my life. He is one of the best pancreatic doctors in Kolkata.
