Is stapler circumcision surgery better than standard circumcision?

Circumcision surgery is one of the most commonly performed surgeries. In general, there are three techniques through which circumcision can be performed. It includes standard circumcision, laser circumcision and stapler circumcision. However, this blog will discuss whether stapler circumcision is better than standard circumcision.

But before that, you need to know more about standard circumcision and stapler circumcision surgery. Standard circumcision is used to remove the foreskin of the penis with the help of scissors and self-dissolving stitches. Whereas stapler circumcision is a short operative process that takes lesser time than standard circumcision.

Which surgery is better? Stapler circumcision or standard circumcision?

As mentioned above, staler circumcision takes less time than standard surgery, and it also involves minimal pain and negligible blood loss. Now, to answer this question, it is important to know a few more features of stapler circumcision. This process is usually done among older children and adults to treat conditions like phimosis, paraphimosis, and infection of the foreskin and glans like Balanitis and Balanoposthitis.

A circular stapler is a new disposable circumcision device which consists of an inner bell and an outer bell. The inner bell is designed to ensure the protection of the glans, whereas the outer bell consists of a circular blade used to cut the foreskin and staples to close the wound.

Compared to standard circumcision (which takes 10-12 minutes), stapler circumcision takes just 5 minutes of the surgical process. It involves minimal tissue injury or pain along with negligible blood loss. Another benefit of stapler circumcision over standard circumcision is that it involves a more uniform suture line, as cutting is done by a circular surgical blade (a part of the stapling device).

From the above discussion, you can understand why stapler circumcision is better than standard circumcision surgery. This is why most circumcision doctors recommend stapler circumcision over standard surgery to avoid any post-surgery complications.
